Chris
Drumm Chief Resident
I am a
graduate of Drexel University College of Medicine after having
attended Rutgers University. My
interests in family medicine include sports medicine and
adolescent medicine. I
chose Chestnut Hill after completing a rotation during my
fourth year of medical school; the attendings and residents
made me feel comfortable and were always willing to teach. I
am recently engaged and am in the process of wedding planning.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing football, the
Philadelphia
nightlife, buying DVDs, and watching anything sports-related. Chestnut
Hill Family Practice Residency Program has been a perfect fit
for me.

Jennifer Keah
I was born in
Boston
,
MA
, raised in
Columbia
,
MD
, but for the past eight years I’ve lived in
Philadelphia
. My extended
family lives throughout the
Philadelphia
area so it seemed natural that I complete my undergraduate and
medical training here at the
University
of
Pennsylvania
and Temple University School of Medicine, respectively. One
week after graduating from medical school, my husband and I
were married in
Columbia
,
MD.
We currently reside in
Chestnut Hill. As a
fourth year medical student, I had the opportunity to rotate
through the family practice program. I
fell in love with the friendly and supportive atmosphere
provided by the staff and residents. A
former athlete in high school and college, on of my interests
is sports medicine. I
also have an interest in overcoming health disparities and
adolescent medicine. In
my spare time I enjoy dining out, traveling, and watching
movies. After the
hard work in residency, I hope to find time to get back into
exercising. Who
knows, maybe I’ll even play soccer again.

Caroline
Mee
Born and
raised in
Honolulu
,
Hawaii
, I first came to the
Philadelphia
area 25 years ago to attend
Bryn
Mawr
College
, then to get my law degree from the University of
Pennsylvania School of Law. I
spent the majority of my 18 years practicing law doing appeals
cases for the Honolulu Prosecutor’s Offices.
Although I found my work very fulfilling, it was a
political appointment lacking any long term prospects. When
the opportunity presented itself, I returned to
Philadelphia
to get my medical degree at
Thomas
Jefferson
University
. I now live in
Chestnut Hill, just a short walk away from the hospital. I
enjoy good books, good music, good coffee, and spoiling my pet
birds. I also love
walking along
Forbidden Drive
. After residency,
I plan to return home to
Hawaii
where I hope to work in an underserved area.

Scott
I am a
graduate of
Florida
A & M
University
. However, as a
proud Philly native, I was eager to return home to attend
Drexel University College of Medicine. While
in medical school, I quickly discovered my desire to not only
treat patients, but to promote health awareness, while
bridging the gap between the public and medical community. I
knew that I would be given the opportunity to do just that
here at Chestnut Hill Family Practice. I
love working with both the young and old, but have a special
place in my heart for the geriatric population. When
I am not working, I enjoy reading a good book, attending a
great concert, or eating a fabulous meal!

Strauss
I was born a
young man in my hometown, son to my mother and father. My
previous lives have included caseworker for homeless youth in
New York
, plastics salesman (my future was not plastics), toy vendor
at parades, and Process Engineer in the biotech industry. I
graduated from Tulane School of Medicine in
New Orleans
and fled to
Philadelphia
with my wife and child for residency after hurricane Katrina. My
undergrad degree is in Chemical Engineering, and although my
long term goals include trying to take over the world, shorter
term professional interests include working with medical
professionals to innovate and develop medical devices. I
also have a special interest in improving medical education.

David
Yuan Chief Resident
I am a
Jefferson
graduate who wanted to stay in the area.
I chose family practice because I wanted to be able to
interact with patients long term. I
also like having a variety of disciplines involved in my
training and having the opportunity open at the end of
training to go multiple directions. I
moved into Chestnut Hill and enjoy hanging out with friends
and playing lots of sports. I
have been in the area for a while, as I went to Lehigh for
undergrad, then lived in Philly while going to Jefferson, and
now am back in the suburbs where I grew up for residency.

Syed
Abbas
Born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, I graduated from Dow Medical College. I came to the US to broaden my opportunities in the medical field. My first stop was Philadelphia, where I fell in love with “the city of brotherly love.” My next stop after completing my boards was the University of Maryland Medical Center, where I spent one year in the Department of Radiation Oncology doing research on secondary liver cancers. From there, I traveled to the University of Kentucky for a year as a general surgery intern. During my extensive traveling, I found myself longing to return to Philadelphia. Chestnut Hill Family Practice was the perfect choice for my residency due to the location (the city of Philadelphia is magnetic!), the friendliness and professionalism I came across when interviewing for the program, and above all, the patient population. Thus far, I am leaning towards Geriatrics as a fellowship after residency. In my spare time I enjoy watching football and movies, and reading science fiction novels.

Mary Gauthier
I attended medical school at Boston University School of Medicine. Despite being a native Californian, I have chosen to stay on the east coast. I had planned originally to be a surgeon, but after completing a preliminary year of general surgery at MUSC, as well as two years of OB/GYN at York, PA, I finally realized that I had developed a love for primary care. What had become important for me as a physician was the opportunity to maintain my own health and balance in life so as to maximize my diagnostic/treatment skills as well as my learning potential. Thus, life as a surgeon was no longer attractive. Chestnut Hill Family Practice was my first choice in residency programs because it provided not only a strong emphasis on primary care in a highly competent academic training setting, recognizes and respects and the biological and psychological needs of its residents.

Daniel Gray
I attended the College of William and Mary for my undergraduate studies, where I majored in Chemistry and Philosophy. After graduation I spent a year working part-time driving buses, and doing basic chemistry research. I matriculated at the University of Virginia in 2003, and now, four short years later, happily find myself training in family medicine at Chestnut Hill Hospital. I have always been drawn to family medicine because it offers the challenge of knowing about and caring for patients across the broadest of age ranges and treating disease in all specialties. My interests lie in behavioral health, preventive medicine, procedures and obstretrics. My hobbies include a variety of sports such as volleyball, soccer and martial arts. I also love to read, watch movies, and eat good food. All in all, a very eclectic personality that complements a field of medicine that is equally as varied.

Ajay Kiri
I am a graduate of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School/UMDNJ who went into corporate America as a research consultant after graduating in 2002. After several years in this setting I became more interested in sports medicine as well as integrative medicine, and began working part-time as a personal trainer. After researching various alternative systems of medicine to undrestand how they functionally heal the human body, I decided to finish my clinical training. I chose family medicine because of its broad scope. I wanted to come to Chestnut Hill Hospital because it offers excellent clinical training in a community hospital setting. My immediate plan after residency is to do a fellowship in sports medicine. My long term career aspirations are to work with other health care professionals as well as business investors to set up sports medicine and health and fitness centers greared towards helping individauls become well, healthy and fit. I also believe strongly in preventative medicine and have a strong desire to help individuals prevent illness by maintaining a proper diet and exercise regimen. I have a great deal of experience with relaxation techniques like meditation and biofeedback. Outside of medicine, I enjoy gourmet cooking, traveling, being outdoors, trekking and camping. I also enjoy going to sporting events and riding my motorcycle around the tri-state area.

Tiffani Lemen
I was born and raised in West Virginia, and completed both my undergraduate studies and medical school at West Virginia University. I came to Philadelphia through the couple’s match with my boyfriend, who is a rad-onc resident at UPenn. I love living in this city, and I have found so many things to do here! I choise Chestnut Hill because I found during my interview that the residents were fun, unique people, and that the environment was very open and encouraging. And this proved to be true! I love family medicine because it gives you a wide variety of tools to treat anyone. My particular interest is international medicine. So far, I have done medical work in Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Peru, and I hope to do more of this during my residency. Outside of work, I have many interests—I love to dance, hike, exercise, shop, read, watch movies, and travel.

Timothy Klepper
I’m originally from a small community called Sherwood Forest located about 15 minutes outside of Annapolis, Maryland. I went to undergrad at Loyola College in Maryland, where I majored in Biology and minored in English. After college, I did a two year post-bac program at MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and then attended Drexel University College of Medicine. I began pursuing a surgical residency, but luckily saw the light in time and ultimately decided Family Practice was the best profession for me. During the time I’ve spent in Philadelphia, I’ve become a Phillies fan and enjoyed playing on several flag football teams. I also enjoy reading, movies, and checking out the Philadelphia social scene.

Hailing from the great state of Wyoming, I received my B.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Wyoming. Shortly after, I packed up and moved to Hershey, PA where I got my M.D. from Penn State College of Medicine. While in medical school I taught myself basic website design, served in many leadership positions with multiple medical organizations, and fostered a deep love for organized medicine. I also made time to get married, improve my baking and cake decorating skills, and attempt to learn to ski, in addition to regularly feeding my hiking and ice cream addictions. While I am uncertain where I would ultimately like to practice medicine, I do plan to some day retire, with a little jeep, to Moab, UT (or somewhere else equally beautiful).

Cecilia Olugbade-Oseyemi
I was born and raised in Nigeria. I came to the United States with my late husband in pursuit of higher education. We were blessed with two boys in that marriage. I remarried years later and had a daughter from the marriage. I reside in Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania, with my husband and three children. I attended Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. I have always been fascinated by family practice’s holistic approach of managing patients. This holistic approach, continuity of care, the scope, and the realm of knowledge provided attracted me to family medicine. Chestnut Hill Family Practice was the best choice for me because not only is it one of the best programs in the area, it is a familiar environment in a region in which I would like to stay. When I am not working I like to shop for bargains, walk, cook, and spend time with friends and family. I also like to stay current with the news, politics, and sports.

I am originally from India – a country with vibrant culture and rich traditions, where I learned the art of healing. During my internship, I was introduced to a beautiful young lady who is now my wife. She was studying in the United States, so I had a chance to join her and her family in Pennsylvania. After my boards, Penn State was my first destination where I did one year of clinical research designing "Virtual Navigation System," a novel diagnostic tool for early detection of lung cancer. Afterwards I completed one year of Preliminary Surgery residency at Hershey Medical center. Being a surgery resident in Tertiary care setting provided me a great opportunity to be trained in a health care system with advanced technology. Within the first few months of my surgical internship I knew that my wife and I were going to start a family and I decided to switch to family practice. I chose Chestnut Hill because of its unique community setting, friendly people and wide variety of educational opportunities. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my son, surfing the web, photography and travel.

In my life I've earned a paycheck as a landscaper, sous chef, army medic, machine gunner, house builder, semi-pro softball player and bicycle racer....doesn't it make sense I
would end up in Family Medicine? I moved to Philadelphia to attend Temple University School of Medicine. Here I developed an odd affinity for cheesesteaks and the Phillies.
Medical school was a "long, strange trip" and before I could spell W-O-R-L-D backwards, I found myself here at Chestnut Hill Family Medicine residency. It's a kind and gentle place to learn how to discover and nurture your strengths as well as develop new ones.

I went to University of Maryland for my undergraduate studies and also for medical school. I have lived in Maryland since I moved to the United States from Nigeria, the country where I was born. I chose to become a family physician because there was no specialty that called out enough to me to want to do it the rest of my life. I also loved and appreciated the great flexibility that family practice offers. I decided to come to Chestnut Hill because I truly liked the program when I interviewed. I was also ready to live somewhere other than Maryland, and Philadelphia seemed like it would be a great place to live. My hobbies include spending time with friends and family, traveling, and reading.

Chestnut Hill Hospital's Family Practice Residency program
has graduated more than 100 residents since its inception in
1974. Many of the program's alumni are now practicing medicine
in the Philadelphia metropolitan area, while other graduates
practice throughout the country in such places as California,
Florida, Hawaii and even Bermuda. All graduating residents
have passed the certification boards on the first attempt.
The Hospital has formed physician networks to help
facilitate our move toward an integrated health care system
focusing on primary care and covered lives.
There is ample opportunity for graduates to stay and
practice in the community.
