Family Care is Primary
Our
Hospital's board of trustees, administrators and medical staff
recognized a community need and anticipated the change in
national philosophy when they initiated the Family Practice
Residency Program in 1974. At Chestnut Hill Hospital, we
believe a strong medical education program enhances the
Hospital's total quality of medical care. The Hospital's
primary educational focus is the Family Practice Residency
Program.
At Chestnut Hill Hospital, family practice is the
foundation of medical care.
Fully equipped with modern diagnostic and therapeutic
facilities, the Hospital also offers direct access to the
services of the medical school hospitals in Philadelphia. The
Hospital provides comprehensive services to the community such
as emergency medicine, oncology, gynecology,
neurology, cardiology, orthopaedics, physical medicine and
rehabilitation, gerontology, community health education,
prevention and wellness. Nuclear medicine, MRI, MRA,
peripheral angiography, mammography and CT scanning are among
the services offered by our radiology department.
Other important features include a medical/surgical intensive
care unit; acute and intermediate cardiac care units and
outpatient surgical services. In addition, important specialty
services such as a cardiac catheterization laboratory, an
intensive care nursery, cancer center and Women’s Center are
offered at Chestnut Hill Hospital. In addition to Chestnut
Hill Hospital, Chestnut Hill Health System also includes
Chestnut Hill Rehabilitation Hospital and the Springfield
Residence assisted living community.
Recent Hospital statistics show about 10,000 admissions
each year. As one of the lowest cost-per-stay
and shortest average length of stay teaching hospitals in the
Delaware Valley, Chestnut Hill Hospital is well positioned for
continued success in the managed care environment.
