Salaries
Salaries are competitive with other suburban and urban podiatric surgical residency programs, adjusted annually, and include adjustment for Philadelphia city wage tax.
Salaries for current year, July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011
PGY-1: $50,000
PGY-2: $51,000
PGY-3: $52,500
Insurance
Health: A flexible benefits plan is available with several choices, including a medical plan with following options:
• Independence Blue Cross Personal Choice (high and low options available)
• Medical Waiver (with proof of coverage)
You can also choose a dental plan and vision coverage.
Life: Each resident receives paid life coverage equal to 1 x base salary. Each resident may also elect supplemental life coverage for yourself, your spouse or your dependent children
Disability: Long-term disability coverage is available to the resident.
Professional Liability (Medical) Coverage: Coverage is provided for residency-approved activities.
Vacations
Each resident is given annual leave as follows:
PGY-1: 15 Days
PGY-2: 20 Days
PGY-3: 20 Days
Sick Days: 5 days annually
Educational Allowances
CME (Continuing Medical Education)
With the approval of the program director, each resident is given time to attend medical, surgical, resident organization and research meetings, courses, or seminar. The resident is given one week annually to attend the various continuing medical educational opportunities. The resident is reimbursed up to a budgeted amount for travel and expenses as follows:
PGY-1: $500
PGY-2: $1,000
PGY-3: $2,000
The resident may also use part of the educational allowance towards textbooks, PDA, and journals.
Housing
Residents are responsible for their own housing. All levels of accommodations are available within the surrounding areas.
