The Podiatric Surgical Residency Program is open to candidates from all podiatry schools. Applications for the residency program are accepted through Centralized Application Service for Podiatric Residencies (CASPR) only. This service, sponsored by the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM), submits residency applications, three letters of reference, official transcripts, clinical evaluations, board scores, and personal statement to the residency programs directly. In addition to their CASPR application, the candidates will also need to submit a copy of their CV and class ranking directly to the residency program. For additional information on CASPR and application, please visit AACPM websites at: www.aacpm.org/residencies/casprcrip.asp.
Candidates should be aware that they are expected to be able to pass NBPME Part I, Part II, and Part III exams. These exams are required for candidate to obtain a full Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical License, which is required at the start of all Podiatric Surgical Residency Programs in Pennsylvania.
Due to current hospital policies, the residency program can only accept candidates that are either United States citizens or permanent residents (Green Card Holders). The hospital will not sponsor any residents for a visa to work in the United States.
Upon receiving all required application materials from CASPR and the candidates, the completed application will be reviewed by various members of the podiatric surgical residency program selection committee. Selected candidates will then be invited to interview with the residency program at EAST Centralized Regional Interview Program (CRIP). The dates and location of the CRIP will be listed on the AACPM website. One new incoming resident will be selected each year. Students from all podiatric medical schools will be considered for the residency program.
Since this residency program participates in the CASPR Match Program, the ranking of the interviewed candidates for the residency program will be submitted to CASPR in early February. Candidates and the podiatric surgical residency programs will be notified by CASPR in mid March in regards to the Match results. The exact Match date can be found on the AACPM website.
We encourage program visitation during the year for interested students who did not have an opportunity to do an externship or an office clerkship with the residency program. Although none of these activities is required in order to be considered for the residency program, it is always helpful for the interested student to learn more about the residency program prior to applying.
